2012 Calendar of Events
A Unique Four-Season Camping Experience
Welcome to the Summer of Fun!
Besides being a beautiful place to visit, Katahdin Shadows Campground features many themed weekends throughout the summer, such as Aloha Weekend, Halloween Weekend, Christmas Weekend, and NASCAR Weekend.
You don't have to just visit on a special weekend though—every weekend is special here. Some events take place every weekend, such as:
- Hayrides every Friday and Saturday at 6:30pm.
- Arts & Crafts for kids on Saturdays at 1pm.
"Violette's Grill" is open from time to time, and serves items such as hamburgers, hotdogs, hot meatball sandwiches, sausage grinders, french fries, onion rings, doughboys, and soda.
Check the lobby bulliten board each weekend for extra activities.
Click on any dark-blue date on the calendar to the right to jump to the activities for that weekend.

Scavenger hunts, coloring contests, Jello eating contest
Kids' Parade around the campground - 1pm
Decorate your bikes, scooters, strollers, wagons, helments, pets, etc. with the red, white, and blue!
Arts & Crafts - 1:30pm (right after the parade)
Violette's Grill - 5-6:30pm
Halloween Weekend — July 13-15

Parade & Costume Judging - 3pm
Prizes for costumes: Scariest, Cutest, Most Original, Silliest, and Best Family Group
Trick-or-Treating - following parade
(please bring candy if you wish to have Trick-or-Treaters come to your site.)
Haunted Maze - Noon-2pm (kids and the faint of heart), 8-11pm or until everyone is too scared to go on!
Haunted Hayride - 8pm
Prepare to be SCARED!
Prizes for Best Decorated sites!

Do the limbo, hula hoop contest, men's sexy leg contest, biggest splash,and many other water games. It's a pool party!
Pig Roast - 5:30pm
Adults - $6.50, Kids under 12 - $3.50
Pork, salads, rolls, punch, coffee, dessert.
Hayride - 7pm
Wear your grass skirts and tropical shirts and join the fun!

NASCAR Weekend — August 24-26

Poker Run - Noon
Family Games - 1:30pm
Bring your remote control vehicles for racing, "big" kids will get to race too! Check your speeds with our radar! Place a bet in the "Katahdin 500"! Take a ride in a race car or truck, watch the Shriner's NASCAR Unit do a demonstration, meet the drivers, and take some pictures too!
Race time!!! Fans, gather at the pavilion with your beverages, snacks, and chairs and watch the race on the big screen! (outdoor viewing, weather permitting)
Items will be auctioned during the race with all proceeds going to the Shriners' Hospital for Children. Please be generous!
Silent Auction will be ongoing from 1-4pm in the pavilion. Place your bids on your favorite NASCAR items. Come back at 5pm to see if you're the winner! Remember, all proceeds go to help the children!
Save your bottles, cans, and tabs off the tops of cans. Money from the returnables go to the kids; tabs are recycles and money is used for making walkers, crutches, braces, etc.
Whoever has the most can tabs (by weight) will win a free 2-night stay here at Katahdin Shadows. Save all winter and be a winner! (697 lbs. total collected in 2010)
